How the Cheaper Home Batteries rebate works (2026–2027)
The discount comes from small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Your installer usually claims them and takes the value off your price.
The formula
STCs = usable capacity (first 50 kWh only) × STC factor, tapered by size:
- 0–14 kWh: 100% of the factor
- 14–28 kWh: 60%
- 28–50 kWh: 15%
STC factor timetable
| Installed | Factor |
|---|---|
| May–Dec 2026 | 6.8 |
| Jan–Jun 2027 | 5.7 |
| Jul–Dec 2027 | 5.2 |
| Jan–Jun 2028 | 4.6 |
The factor applies on the date the battery is installed, so a signed contract alone does not lock in the 2026 rate.
